Found, the Ghost Ring of Saturn

Jakarta-Astronomers have discovered new rings are so large and spread out and located far beyond the rest of the circle the planet. The researchers said the new ring is composed of former debris collision ejected from Saturn's moon Phoebe.

This new discovery also solved the riddle about the appearance of two-faced moon of Saturn, Iapetus is one of the very dark side.

The ring has become the largest ring in the solar system, with the inner circle of 3.7 million miles and the outer ring of 7.4 million miles.

Diameter equal to the planet Saturn 300 marched from one side to the other side. And the whole volume can save one billion of the earth. "It is one big super ring," said Anne Verbiscer, one of the authors of the study published in Nature.

The ring has the same slope as the orbit of the moon to both Phoebe ie, the 27-degree angle from the main rings of Saturn. This would be one factor that supports the theory that Phoebe took the dust ring.

This discovery will solve the mystery that has lasted a long time about the science of why the planet is walnut-shaped Iapetus has a two-color, with one side of the moon is significantly darker than the others.

"This is essentially collision. The particles hit Iapetus like insects on the windshield," said Verbiscer.

Study of the Iapetus dark material has shown that the surface compositions similar to Phoebe.
